I joined Famine 30 at HELP CAT this year. It was my first time participating in Famine 30. My friend, SH was one of the person in charge with the event so she signed up for me, as a volunteer. Campers and volunteers have different experience, of course.
Volunteers are assigned to different roles, namely Team Leader, Game Masters and Logistics. Guess what did i pick?
Team Leader haha.
Campers are also separated into different groups, you are most probably going to end up being in a group of complete strangers, okay, let's not call them strangers, rephrase, new friends. Fret not, by the end of the day you'll be missing them after the camp! I mean, true, it's gonna be loads of fun if you are in the same team as all your own friends but it's gonna be loads of fun too if you are not. Just stop being shy and pretend you've known each other for a long time and enjoy yourself ! *winks*
Anyways, this camp isn't all about fun la. The main objective of this camp is, of course, to fight global hunger. Nobody is allowed to eat throughout the camp for 30 hours, which is why it is called Famine 30. I guess in that way we get to experience how it feels like to be hungry.
Scroll on and let the photos do the talking shall we ;)

one of our sponsors.
we were given packet biscuits before the event starts officially. |

here are my baby deers (my group members) :) |
That was the only group photo i had with my team i guess. Was too busy being a team leader haha so i didn't take much photos throughout the camp.
Just in case anyone of you, my group members, are reading this, thanks for not causing me any trouble and thanks for being obedient haha, i'm sorry if i offended anyone of you, please know what it was unintentional!
Team leaders are allowed to join a few games too. But most of the times i just pretend to be a cheerleader haha. Volunteers have had two meetings before the camp itself and we have already played the games ourselves during the meetings so we didn't actually missed out much.
// loved the photos above cause i look good, jk! my other members seems to be camera shy lol
After all the station games, we had a mini concert in HELP CAT auditorium. There were different type of performances such as singing, dancing, acting, chinese yoyo (not sure what is "ce lin" called and google told me that) and my favourite was beat boxing i guess haha. The concert ended quite late, half of the people were still in high spirits, cheering and responding with great enthusiasm whereas half of the people were "half dead" because they were sleepy/tired. I was somewhere in between lol.

After the concert ended, we were given soy milk to drink.

Joining the camp was a great experience, i would never say i regret joining the camp. I never thought it was possible to not eat anything for 30 hours (we only drank water and soya milk) but we did it. You'll be so busy and tired that you'll forget about food i guess? haha. I really hope everyone who joined the camp understand the actual objective of the camp and have gained something from the camp because in my case, i do and i did. I really hope global hunger can be brought to an end.
That's all from me i guess. Having my finals next week, i should study really hard before i regret!
Love,
Sheunny
