Penang Trip with Super Gang (Part One)

As I've mentioned in my previous post, i went on a trip to Penang with Super Gang. Just in case you are wondering "why Super Gang?" We were all in the same secondary school, and we went to the same tuition center. We had a group chat so we can discuss about our tuition schedule and homework (very good students aren't we? HAHAHA actually half of the times we were planning outings or talking nonsense) called "Super Gang" because our tuition center happens to be "Super". It might not be the chic-est name but it's a name we are all familiar and comfortable with.

We had to pick the Hari Raya holidays because it's too hard for the nine of us from different colleges/universities to have holidays simultaneously. We took Air Asia to Penang and we took Uber, Grabcar as well as Rapid Penang there. Fortunately our hotel is located at the centre of Georgetown, hence it's highly accessible to public transports and also a few of the places on our itinerary. Good job on hotel picking Jaden! :)

blurry selfie because it was like 7am in the morning and we woke at 4/5ams lol

grabbed a bite at McDs before flight. the wrap was the size of my fist lol
but good enough, saving stomach capacity for Penang yihaa!

penang bound x

We took Grabcars to our hotel to drop off our luggages then headed to check out the famous Penang street arts by foot. We were really lucky because the weather was rather cloudy hence no harsh sun burning our skin!

Hi Jimmy you match the zebra crossing HAHAHA

thanks for always checking if i'm following behind &
making sure i don't get run down by cars :)

It's probably because we woke up really early and had a light breakfast only, we were famished at 10am so we stopped at My Own Cafe 我的咖啡馆 for some Laksa. We knew there would be tons of food waiting for us ahead so we ordered a few bowls for sharing, that way we get to try more food together!

okay we're out of focus at the back lol

If i'm not mistaken, they only serve laksa (food) there along with a few choices of drinks. The laksa was nae bad. I'm not the biggest laksa fan, in fact i used to hate laksa lol but i enjoyed this :) they offer two portions, large and small. The large one would be good for sharing among two to three person if you plan on eating again elsewhere. The shop keepers were really nice and friendly too :) The cafe was pretty clean and comfortable which is a plus point!

couples doing there couple thing.

our first mural yay!

There's also stalls that sell coconut ice creams and cakes outside the laksa shop.

it's actually an advertisement for their shop/product lol but i'm stealing it for my blog

cycling is a really efficient way to get to places without being stuck in the jam!
it's eco-friendly and pocket-friendly too!!
too bad my friends didn't wanna cycle lol

initially i didn't notice the column of words at the bottom, then i realized there are actually some information!

selfie stick is a really really really handy tool

i walked so much that day that my slippers were dented so i threw them away lol
fyi they were perfectly fine before that lolol

big small eyes cannot be more irritating i swear.

my beautiful friend, RX
she has a blog too & i'm bugging her to update it lolol

when you have too many in the picture you tend to block half (if not all) of the mural lolol

loving her skirt!

every corner seems to be a picture worthy spot

you will see a lot of tourists cycling around

Shawn sucking ball HAHAHA

Mmm definitely enjoying it HAHAHA wtf

my face cannot get fatter than this fml

there's people playing music at this spot in the day and night too
we went to this street at night and there's another uncle playing ukulele!

WY getting coconut
#sheunfact: i like coconut juice better when there's flesh haha.

i'm a pretty good photographer ey?

Next, we headed to the other must-go spot in Penang, Chew Jetty 姓周桥. I honestly didn't see what's so attractive about this place, maybe because it was swarming with too much tourists so i had to focus on not knocking into anyone. From what i remembered it's a long wooden walkway with people selling the same clothing/ souvenirs and food everywhere :/ It rained shortly after we reached the end of the bridge so we took a break there.

this is the part where it gets really dark

they were taking pictures of each other's back half of the time HAHAHA

Next we went for more street art hunting.

photo vcredits to Shawn's camera

the plank is actually about 1m away from the ground lol i had to pull myself. I ended up having all the rust stains on my hands lolol luckily our Mama WY had baby wipes so i managed to clean up HAHAHA Mama WY is the best !

the buses are really really packed with tourists and labor workers.

these two are too tall HAHAHA

We wanted to have Nasi Kandar but too bad that particular shop we wanted was closed that day so we headed to our cendol place. Despite the long queue, we got our cendol-s within ten minutes. They are really fast and efficient so don't let the queue scare you! Trust me, it's worth the wait anyhow. There's also a char kuey teow stall operating in the kopitiam which i guess is really famous too but we were told to wait for at least an hour so we decided to pass.

CAN YOU SEE THE CROWD

the kopitiam was dark and small so we decided to just stand & eat outside.

this uncle scoops cendol as fast as lightning & i'm not even exaggerating
SO. GOOD.  Probably the best cendol i ever had. No worries

Next, we went to Kek Lok Si, the other die-die-must-go in Penang place. You know, we're just being typical tourists haha. But there's nothing much to do there actually, for me la. So just took a few photo.

and we asked the guys to put on our sunglasses haha

After that, we went to Penang Hill. I liked Penang Hill because it's cold there HAHAHA.

We were lining up for the train but we got cut off half way so the rest of them got on
while the three of us waited for the next train.

RX ran straight into Jimmy and enveloped him into an embrace when we reached :')

these two are clingy af.

stop being so pretty :(

tablemates in 5N 2014

I would love to stay til it's all dark next time to catch the night scene on Penang Hill. It was pretty misty when we went and i forgotten to take photos of the scenenary, pretty wasted :( We had more pictures on Shawn's camera but they are gone because an accident happened :(

Anyways, we headed to our last spot, Old Green House on Jalan Burma for their prawn noodles. I loved their prawn noodles!! I personally think they were okay but my friends said it was really spicy, which was weird because the next day we had a curry mee which i thought was really spicy but they said the prawn noodles were spicier lolol. Anyways, i would totally come back for this prawn noodles!

Coincidentally Jess went to the same stall so she sent me her pictures so i can use them in my blog, thanks babe ;)

I'm gonna stop here. I'm missing Penang and my friends so badly now. Stay tuned for part two!

Lots of love,
Sheunny
