Hidden Gem in Taiping: Maxwell Hill + FIRST VLOG

I visited Maxwell Hill aka Bukit Larut with my family last week when we were in Taiping. We went there in the morning in an attempt to hike first. I ended up hiking roughly 6km with an army guy who was really friendly and nice because my family couldn't make it lol. After that we bought tickets for a ride up in the afternoon instead. My parents told me when they were young, they would spend their school holidays at Maxwell Hill with their friends. They would wake up really early in the morning and start hiking up to the hotel and have a barbeque party, play games and bond. It sounded wonderful.

In the morning.

the early morning face
the friendly army friend i made
btw can you tell how steep the road is?

the sweaty after hike

forgotten to take the bottom half lol

we bought the fourth trip!

In the afternoon.

We were there early so we checked out this swimming pool beside Maxwell Hill.

just felt like posting this as well

they have a tiny rabbit farm too.

the water in the swimming pool was really green lol

luckily we bought our tickets early!
you are encouraged to buy your tickets beforehand to avoid disappointments!

the waiting area

there were three jeeps that can accommodate roughly ten person each

The ride was approximately half an hour. It was a really exciting journey because the roads weren't exactly wide and the corners were really really steep! Our driver was really skillful, he barely slow down at corners and drove single handed-ly. It was rather dangerous though. Some people got really car sick afterwards lol  DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU AH

Actually I remember coming here once, when i was still in primary school, which means at least seven years ago. The only thing i remembered was a bumpy road up and sitting on the swing lol.

so sunny

crazy hair after the ride up.

I went on a little adventure on my own because my family were too lazy to climb lol.

Then i found a non-operating cafe. If I'm not mistaken, there's a non-operating hotel beside it too.

so vintage huh
Then i went back down to join my family. There's some chairs and benches for people to just (literally) chill. You can also bring food up too and have a pleasant picnic. There's no convenient stores or food stalls but there's toilet. There's a playground, a hanging bridge, and a tower for sight seeing.

The jeep came on time to pick us up to bring us down. I was really reluctant to leave as i really enjoyed the serenity and the cool temperature. I loveeeee chilly places.

on the way down//

those were gardeners hahas they followed behind our jeep because the road was too narrow for them to overtake us lol
In my opinion, Maxwell Hill isn't really well developed yet but that could be considered as one of it's specialty too because it still retains it's natural state. It's like a mini Cameron Highlands with less development.

Ending this post with a vlog!!!

I always wanted to vlog and i finally did it. Turns out vlogging is actually way way way harder than blogging. Please don't mind my crazy hair because i was moving around and my hair was all over the place. Also I'm sorry for the horrible shakiness of the video, i didn't notice it was so bad until i watch it on my computer. I don't really know how to edit videos nicely but i tired my best to merge the videos. The video might be less than five minutes but it took me hours to put them together and trim off the unwanted parts lol. So don't bash me for the video okay! At least give me credits for effort lol.

Love,
Sheunny
