My Pumpkin Scone Recipe

* Oh dear, I just realized i hadn't make a post about "fitness" yet. I'll make sure that comes up after this post as soon as possible.*

I'm working really really hard for abs since last December cause i really really want them really really badly (6 really-s in one sentence *seems legit lol* just to emphasise the fact that i am dying for abs).  There is actually a quote, "abs are made in kitchen, not gym". Apparently, diet is 80% responsible for the way one look. Exercise accounts for the other 20%.

I've made some pumpkin scones today, i've made this thrice, i got the recipe from tumblr. Tumblr used to be a place i go when I am depressed and stuff and my tumblr used to be very depressing, but I made a change by following more fitspirational stuff which includes beautiful bodies and food haha just saying.. So i have a lot of recipes to bake, i've been baking a lot since last month because.. idk.. it's my new hobby ? tee-hee

I used to not eat pumpkin for some sorta reasons i don't know but i am so stupid, pumpkins are low in calorie and high in antioxidant and so much more goodness, go google them yourself if you're interested but trust me, it's a really good food. I really really love pumpkins now.

When i prepare food for myself, i usually bake them because i had a phobia- fear of stove, okay, starting the stove to be exact, i have no problem with stoves as long as someone starts it for me kay.. haha.. I don't dare to start the stove and sadly i don't have those electric stove. BUT i got over that phobia already la few weeks ago which i am pretty proud of myself for *winks*

I am so talkative today, i wonder why lolol i have so much to say lolol *and i think i'm using lolol/haha too much but at least i didn't use them at the same time since it won't make sense if someone put "Laugh out loud haha".. okay maybe it make sense.. idk. whatever. I just don't think it does.*

Omg what did i just typed? I am proud to say my typing speed is considered fast so i typed everything almost instantly when i think of them.. So I am supposed to share my recipe yes. Here you go haha.

Ingredients:

250 g smashed roasted pumpkin
225 g wholemeal flour

1/2 cup sun-dried fruit  ( I used raisins for the first batch and chocolate chips for the second because i ran outta raisins!)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
pinch of  salt
2 tsp baking powder
60 g melted butter
1 TBSP honey

Directions:

1. Combine flour, salt, cinnamon and baking powder.
2. Add raisins and mix through.
3. Combine smashed roasted pumpkin with honey and melted butter.
4. Add smashed pumpkin mix to the flour.
5. Combine gently with your fingertips until a soft dough forms and mixture is combined.
6. Flatten out the pumpkin scone dough to about 5 cm,  scattering some extra oats on the top if you need to so it doesn’t stick.
7. Cut the scones into rounds using a cutter.  To stop the dough sticking, dip the cutter into a little flour in between each one.
8. Place the scones onto a baking tray – you should get about 10 lovely scones.
9. Bake for approximately 20 minutes.

I felt like i was doing a project lolol because i just typed whatever i had on my notebook, but in reality i did a few changes myself la. Scroll on for photos *winks*

This is about 900g of pumpkin but after i removed the seeds and skin, it's like 700+g
I made two batches. One with wholemeal flour and raisins for myself and one with self-raising flour and chocolate chips for my family because they hate wholemeal flour.. :(

Cutting the pumpkin is NOT easy, it's dreadful! I cut my finger on accident :(

I cut my first finger then i cut my middle finger. Which makes "fingers"
stupid me duh.

Lesson learnt, pay attention and not get distracted by phone notifications

roasted pumpkins!

I just cut them into small pieces and put them in the oven at 180`C (i can't find the degree key.. i just realised i've never used that before omg lolol) for 45mins.

You can actually eat them already, they taste really good since pumpkins are naturally sweet :)

And i smashed them.

you don't have to sieve the flour actually, i just did that for fun because i love using the thing haha

oh and you can't sieve wholemeal flour because they aren't that fine.

idk how much is a pinch of salt, i mean big fingers have "bigger pinch" and small fingers have "smaller pinch"

and since my fingers are injured so i avoided using my hands. I just used a tiny amount of salt as shown on the teaspoon haha

mine

Fam's

Adding a TBSP of honey :)
i added milk in there too.
It wasn't in the recipe but i realised my dough is kinda dry so i went to google if people
put milk in scones and i found out some recipes do so i went to add in the milk.

you have to follow your intuitions at times as long as it's not something negative
because who knows what might happen? haha

Call me a genius. I used the ice cream thing to put the dough on the pan so i don't have to make a mess with my hands!
This is a tip that would come in handy when you bake i swear.

Fam's

I know they don't look good but beauty is only skin deep kay :P

Mine

After that i sent my babies into the oven to get hot.

Okay my metaphor sucks. But i love calling anything i bake "my babies". I really feel like i am giving birth to beautiful things and i love my babies all the times although my mum usually say the things i bake taste like crap. HOWEVER this time my mum actually praised my babies, like finally, i am so happy that i can cry haha.

while waiting for my babies to come out...selfie time!

I look retarded wtf

looks at my poor fingers *sobs*

Ta-da

Mama loves you all *tears*
oh i'm so dramatic haha

I moved them all into one pan for a group photo.
I am "humanifying" my food lolol

aren't they photogenic? I don't accept no for an answer.

a close up.
The one on the is my fam's version and the one at the bottom is mine.

I can't deny that chocolate chip tastes better then raisins but i'll stick to wholemeal flour and raisins
for the sake of "clean eating"

I really love this recipe because i love scones. The first time i ever ate a scone was during my trip to Australia when i was seven, and i really liked them since then. This recipe is different with the normal ones because i don't use much sugar or butter in this recipe so i feel less guilty while eating it haha.

That's all for now, stay tuned.

Much love,
Sheunny xx
