One day trip to Pulau Ketam

I went to Pulau Ketam with some friends last week. We took the LRT from Putra Heights, to Subang Jaya, and continued with KTM to the last station, Pelabuhan Klang. It took us quite some time to get there, but our laughter barely ceased along the journey so it was definitely a lot of fun. Upon reaching the Pelabuhan Klang station, we walked a short distance (less than 3 minutes lol) to the jetty & hopped on the speed boat to Pulau Ketam. The speed boat had two tiers (? not sure what's the exact term sorry lol), the open air one, which was really fun but be prepared to mess up your hair la, and the closed air conditioned one. It was RM18, two ways.

met some friendly people on the boat who recommended us food to eat at pulau ketam

but the food stall/restaurants they recommended were all closed :(
most of them only open on weekdays where there's more tourist
it was unfortunately a weekday when we visit Pulau Ketam

We rented bicycles at RM10 each. There were electric bicycles too, but those cost a little more. I was really amazed by the fact that there's no motorcycles or cars at all on the island. Everyone simply cycles or walks.

one of their famous nasi lemak.
instead of the sambal we usually get, they serve a different type of sambal made by the locals.
i find them passable only la, but then again i don't really eat rice so i might not be a good judge.

Most of the places are only open for business on weekends where there are more tourists so we didn't get the full on Pulau Ketam experience but it's okay la. We did some sightseeing, cycled around on the bicycle, took some photos. There were quite a lot of photo spots if you ask me haha.

there were a number of wall murals around the island
for you to hunt down & do it for the gram hahahha

We had lunch at a random chinese restaurant, there was nothing special about the food, but it was pretty expensive & not worth it. You might say it's because it's a tourist spot, but let me tell you, i had better meals, like actual seafood, in a nicer restaurant in Kuala Selangor la (oh crap i haven't blog about it, i should!! soon!!) But then again, i wasn't really expecting much because i've heard from my relatives that the food there tastes so so only & isn't worth the price.

Pulau Ketam is a fishing village la, so we expected a seafood meal. We listened to the waitress's recommendation, got ourselves a salty fishball soup (which she claims to be their signature but i don't see why, i think i can make better soup than that lol), a salty plate of vegetable (is salt free on pulau ketam? why do they make everything so salty!!), a weird plate of fish slices (with tons of bones so it was pretty dangerous to be eaten by kids lol) & a plate of fried sotong which was okay, oh and a plate of ochien(?), you know the oyster omelet thing. I'm not a big fan of oyster but i ate the ochien because guess what, there was barely any oyster inside lol. It was a pretty expensive meal. Nope, never again :)

Can't believe i just rambled on about our lunch for such a long paragraph, thanks for reading, i hope nobody would go and eat there lol.

We wanted to check out how they process the shrimps or whatever they catch for sale but we couldn't seem to find the place so we ended up forgetting about it. There were a few shops that sell snacks & dried goods to bring back as souvenirs but i wasn't interested in any la.

the sky got gloomy but fortunately it didn't pour.

the people on pulau ketam are really friendly
we asked for directions from pretty much anyone we see
& all of them would gladly help us out <3

just in case anyone is wondering how did i sit on a bicycle in my outfit
peiching gave me her scarf to wrap around so i was safe to sit on a bicycle
haha smart right

pink bicycle <3

took this by ourselves, with panorama mode on the phone
such a smart idea right
 *pats myself at the back
hahaha

last but not least, thanks Xuelin for cycling me around hehs <3
ft the most colourful house we saw haha

So that's pretty much it for our one day trip.
Was it fun? Yes, because of the company i had.
Was it worth a visit? Yeah, maybe on the weekends when more shops are open.
Will i revisit? No haha cause i think i've seen enough of what they are offer.

Love,
Sheunny
