not-so-glam // i-was-actually-sinking-picture as header because it was candid and i was laughing plus the back ground is nice. |
It feels like a long time has passed since my Japan trip ended and i'm missing Japan already. Just in case you don't know, i went to Japan with my family during my CNY holidays this year which was 19th to the 25th of February. We followed a tour by Apple Vacation. My parents are very fond of Apple Vacation lolol they followed their tour countless times. Osaka wasn't part of our trip initially but flights changed and we had to go to the airport at Osaka so we had an extra day and stop in Japan. Fun fact, Kansai Airport is the world first airport on sea. How cool is that!
Let the photos do the talking shall we.

On a scale of 10, i would probably rate this Chicken Teriyaki thing a ...2 because it did fill me up but it taste really bad. |
Our flight was at the midnight. I was so hungry as i was too excited for the trip to actually have a proper dinner. Their service was ridiculously slow. It was lights off at first so i fell asleep since it was night time and supposedly bed time and my phone was running out of juice and there is no personal TV and for the first time i forgotten to bring a novel with me. I got woken up when they turned on the lights and i saw their cart right at the first row which wasn't very far from my seat but they took more than an hour to finally reach my seat. I really dislike Air Asia, the food and the seats.

they were all pre-booked by our tour. I would rather not eat any of them and bring my own food duh. |

Flying at night. |
![]() |
this was also from the plane which is luckily more decent. |

First meal in Japan! Yums! Every meal comes in a set like this in throughout my trip. I like how we get to taste a little bit of everything. |
![]() |
that's the restaurant we visited :D Papa Lau's winter coat is soooo striking haha. |
![]() |
first stop, Nagoya Castle :D It is one of Japan's greatest castle. heart eyes emojis for pink nails ^sorry too vain. |
![]() |
didn't really take much photos in the musuem as it was kinda dark and it doesn't look good in my phone camera. |
![]() |
for some sort of reason i bumped into a lot of shootings during my trip lol |
Tbh i never paid much attention at the Nagoya Castle and i kinda regret it.
I was just a little tired and the weather was so comfortable
and i feel a little sleepy jeez
plus we don't really have enough time to explore and learn the place :(
![]() |
it reminds me of Doraemon haha |

As absurd as it sounds, i enjoy using toilets like this in Japan a lot haha the seats are heated and there's so many buttons to play with, oops, i mean to make the toilet more convenient lol |
Ogawaya at the Gero Onsen area, which is referred as one of Japan's three best innseb. That's the first hotel we checked in in. It was also my favourite hotel of all the hotels we stayed in :D
![]() |
Dinner at the hotel :D Yums! btw the one on the top right is not oil, it's soup. P's, i'm too lazy to rotate this pic |
![]() |
Also we had Lou Sang in conjunction of CNY haha . |

Foot bath :D |
We went to the hot spring in the hotel two hours after dinner because it's not advisable to go right after meals. Wait, had i mention that Ogawaya is a traditional-style Japanese hotel, nestled in the heart of the Gero Onsen area. Gero has long been one of Japan's most popular hot spring resorts attracting many onsen enthusiasts (from their site).
It was my first actual onsen experience. There was separate baths for males and females (obviously!). The facilities in there make you don't want to leave the place haha. I didn't take any photos inside because i don't think i was supposed to lol i'll try to describe la um
So there's this area where we store out clothes and everything else we brought along, there's also lockers for you to store your valuables. No extra charges for everything so it was really convenient :) so you strip off and bring your tiny little towel into the bath place. You have to take a shower at the small but well-stocked booths at the side of the hot spring bath. There's everything you need there, body shampoo, hair shampoo, conditioner and a few other products i don't know because i can't read Japanese lol
You shower, naked, in public. Yes.
Then we go into the hot spring, naked. Me, my mum and my two younger sisters. Talk about awkwardness.
To some it might sound perfectly normal but for most of us, say, Malaysians which is more conservative, it was super duper awkward lolol but i somehow got over it and enjoyed myself heh.
After that, we can go over to the other area where there's very nice mirrors and tables with face cleanser, toner, moisturiser, cotton buds, cotton pads, hair lotion, comb and so much more which idk what is it, again, because i can't read Japanese and sadly they don't have English translations.
Anyways, by the end of my onsen experience i felt like a princess haha girls need to pamper themselves every once in a while kay. I feel like i'm radiating positivity hahaha ok i'm starting to not understand what i'm trying to say. please don't stop reading and scroll on haha i'm not crazy.

they laid out our mattresses for us on our tatami when we got back from our dinner and hot spring bath heh :D It was surprisingly comfortable and not much different from sleeping on an actual bed :D |
![]() |
view from my breakfast place haha |

one last shot before leaving the hotel :'( |
// on the road.
Sorry but not sorry for the photo spam because it was my first time seeing real snow and asdfghjkl i can't help it. I was barely sitting still on the bus, dying to jump off the bus any time once it stops to jump into the snow lolol

CAN YOU SEE THE WHITE DOTS? ITS SNOW FALLING! It feel so magical :') I've always wanted to experience snow falling. |
Oh btw, this is the village of Shirakawago. my my i can't believe i forgotten to mention that.. Shirakawago is a village where all of their roofs are constructed like hands in prayer, 中文叫合掌村哦 :) It is built that way so the snow can slide down and the roofs won't collapse easily, Japaneses are smart. Another fun fact, Village of Shirakawa-go is one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
This is the Daei Bridge, a special design bridge which connects between Shirakawago gassho villages.

then i fell into this hole. No i mean i sank and created this hole and i got stucked in it. I couldn't pull my legs out unless i slip off my shoes which i did. I had a hard time digging into the snow trying to withdraw my shoes :( And my family went away so i couldn't ask help from anyone It was horrible. When i finally got my shoes back my fingers were raw and numb :( |
![]() |
red red fingers :'( |
Then it was lunch time!
![]() |
see, it comes in a set again ! |
and we left unwillingly :(
Next stop, Kenrokuen Garden.
It is classified as Japan's "three most beautiful landscape gardens". Kenrokuen literally means "Garden of the Six Sublimities", referring to spaciousness, seclusion, artificiality, antiquity, abundant water and broad views, which according to Chinese landscape theory, are the sic essential attributes that make up a perfect garden.
they have these ropes tied on their plants so the snow won't weight them down and destroy the garden ! How thoughtful of them!
It was a beautiful garden but it was too cold for me to take more photos. Just in case you're wondering, it wasn't actually that cold in Shirakawa go despite the snow and temperature at -3 degree celcius compared to being at the garden because there was wind at the garden and it drizzled a little.

Teng took the selfie & she was the only one in focus lol |
