Missing the snow so badly :')
Here's my second post about Japan! Honestly i would really wish my posts could be filled with more informations about all the places i've been to but I really really couldn't remeber the name of most of the places i've been in Japan. I guess it's the language barrier. Japanese is entirely different from all the languages i know (ok, i only like English, Malay and Chinese, well plus Hokkien plus Cantonese) and it's too hard to remember la. I kinda lost our itinerary so i'll try my best to describe my experience there haha. Vocabulary block over there, oops.
Not sure if i've mentioned this but the main purpose of our trip to Japan is to see and experience snow. Needless to say, one day at Shirakawago to play snow is defintely not enough. So we went to Gokayama. Gokayama means five valleys, another UNESCO World Herritage Sites in Japan. The houses here are unique which are built in the style called "Gassho-zukuri" and have three or four floors. The steep roofs are at 60 degrees to prevent snow building up on them, and no nails are used in the construction of these houses.

Next , Takayama Jinya !
A beautiful traditional Japanese style building, used to serve as Takayama's government office during Edo period. It is designated as a national historic site and is the only existing building of its kind in Japan.
Look at the toilet sign haha !
So sorry for forgetting to take pictures inside, there is just a lot of rooms that serves different purposes la. We had to take off our shoes in there but they provide shoes -ughhhhh forgotten what are they called- as shown on the photo above for us to wear la haha.

// random merchandise sold at the restaurant we dined in for lunch.
Hida Takayama Funasaka Sake Brewery. Sake is brewed with fine spring and good quality rice special for sake brewing in a cols climate. Honestly, i can't take the taste of sake.

ahhh sorry for not rotatin ght photo :( I tried dipping the meat into the raw egg after beating it but i prefer cooked ones la :x |
Hida Takayama. It is a city in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. Takayama retains a traditional touch like few other Japanese cities, especially in its beautifully preserved old town.

Next, Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall. The Takayama Festival, held in spring and autumn is ranked as one of Japan's three most beautiful festivals. The hall exhibits few elaborately decorated floats which are several hundred years old and beautiful examples of Takayama's legendary craftsmanship.

Miyagawa Morning Market.
One of the biggest morning markets in Japan. Most stands sell local crafts, snacks from farm products such as vegetables, pickles and flowers.
Quite nice! :)

Sample Food Wax Factory. My favourite place of the day haha.
All the food in the picture above are wax, not edible! They looked so good. We get to experience making them too. I made the fruit tart thingy. I wished we could have done evrything on our own but the materials are already prepared so we only get to assemble the fruits on the tart (lol) using the white cream (super glue). My sisters did tempura but i think the fruit tart one is nicer haha just saying. It was really exorbitant actually. But more of the things in Japan are so.

being the dessert addict i always am, i headed straight for ice cream first lolol. |
