Since CCM commented on my facebook that his face didn't appear at all in the
last post, here's a few extra photos (by Shawn) from
day one which i didn't post to "compensate" hahas.
i was actually photobombing lol |
I was initially planning on making two entries only for my Penang trip but i realise there's so much to blog about so here's part three. There would have been a part four too (did i meantion that we went there for four days?) but i guess a really long part three will do. I promised RX to post this on Monday so she won't have Monday blues hahas.
I've read a lot about China House in Penang, raving about their cakes. Being the ultimate cake lover (okay dessert lover to be exact), i knew i had to go there myself and so we did. I had to stop myself from jumping in excitement when we were finally there. It was a Thursday night when we went there but almost all the seats were taken up already, maybe because it's the Raya holidays. I had trouble picking which cake to get because i really wanted to get everything. I am not kidding. Scroll on and see for yourself.
i had the afgan cookies, they were really light and flavourful! |
hey spot me |
There were more than 20 types of cakes on display and all of them looks really really really good. Sorry for the not so nice photos cause i was really too excited lol besides there were so many cakes that i couldn't decide which one to focus on in my camera! I would live in Penang for a month just to go there and try the cakes, a cake a day keeps Sheun in China House. Does that make sense?
We had three cakes (which names i forgotten yikes) in total because they doesn't seem to be a "cake fan" like me and wanted to save their stomach for other Penang delicacies. The cakes were really dense and flavourful. We didn't have our meals there because the menu was at a rather pricey end.

they have white sheets on the table with crayons so you can doodle while waiting for your orders.
If you drew really well they would hang your drawings in the restaurant too! |
RX's |
We had a not-very-successful-surprise for SH's advanced birthday celebration. Sorry for the bad photos :( Our other photos went missing already :(
had strawberry and cream milkshake because Jess told me to.
It was pretty good but not exactly very special la. |
Hi birthday girl. |
spot us |
We then looked around and found this street with several stalls nearby our hotel so we settled there.
yums! |
just had to snap this very cute girl |
can i use the word intense to describe this aunty lol
she's this drink stall owner who is shouting orders at the worders the whole time, yes, the whole entire time. |
that's her stall and *ahem* |
this is the street i was talking about |

there's our hotel :) |

the morning view from our room |

*trying to be artistic* |
Apart for strategically located within walking distance to several places we went, having a very nice and refreshing scent, very helpful and friendly staffs, complimentary laundry services and many more, they serve pretty decent buffet breakfast too! I would definitely recommend Chulia Mansion :)
#sheunfact: i don't really like rice.
I'm not a big fan of "nasi" (rice) so i had my breakfast in the hotel beforehand and then followed them to this famous Line Clear Nasi Kandar. Now that i realise, it was the only "rice place" we've been the entire trip cause we had been having a lot of noodles.
this is a photo of a few large fish heads bobbing up and down the curry lol |
Next, we took Uber to Escape. It is much advisable to get your tickets online in advance because the tickets on their website is cheaper. In fact the earlier you book you tickets, the cheaper it is. We got our tickets for RM66-ish online. You are not allowed to bring in any food or drinks so you had to buy their very overpriced food and drinks inside lol. They only gave us a code and everything is accessed by the code. You top up money into your code so you can buy things with your code. We kept all our belongings in the locker so i didn't manage to take photos in there while we were playing.
CCM was in the toilet |
the "before look" |
They have photographers around to take photos of us which we can find later on their facebook page. We only got two photos of the three of us (including Jimmy photobombing my photo) lol. I was randomly walking by when i was called to join the hula hoop competition. I don't mean to brag but i can go on hula hooping for hours because it's one of my favourite exercise because its so easy and effortless lol. I won and earned myself a coconut haha!
i look horrible lol |
The Kite Flyer was really good but the line takes almost forever. We had to queue for an hour but it was pretty worth it. Monkey Business would have been better if it weren't for the scorching sun. There are three levels to the Monkey Business, i went on level two and level three, tbh i think they were pretty similar except level three was higher and longer haha. My friends liked the Gecko Tower which was a wall climbing thing. I totally sucked at it lol. I enjoyed the Tubby Racer too, an important tip would be to hold on to your tube really tight while climbing or else you will have to go all the way back down to get it like what happened to Jimmy haha. My absolute favourite was the Flying Lemur because i had always love flying fox since i was a kid. Flying Lemur was a lot of flying foxes and a few rope courses. We didn't manage to play everything in the park due to time restrictions but we were quite contented :)

the "after look" |
We took bus 101 to Pulau Tikus for the famous Lok Lok.
only managed to capture one photo of the beach on the bus. |
I never knew lok lok can be so fun. Fun fact: it was my second lok lok experience only lol. The tables were all covered with uncountable sticks of food which are constantly refilled by the workers, i guess that's their speciality compared to the commonly seen lok lok trucks. PS the table is really really hot, i think it's a metal table haha so it conducts heat from the boiling ..soup(?) in the middle.
The nine of us ate almost 100 sticks in total yet it only costed us roughly RM15 each, including drinks, which is really really affordable. You probably get like, four sticks for RM15 in the lok lok trucks in KL. Taste wise, there's nothing really special about them la, they taste like standard lok lok i guess.
Oh oh the other really special thing about this lok lok is the way the uncle calculates our bill! He takes the entire bunch of sticks we had and begin mumbling a string of numbers while taking away stick by stick. It's really fast and amazing. I would have taken a good 15mins to separate all the sticks by their prices and multiply lol I was too fascinated to take a photo of it but i did take a snapchat video of it. I might find it and post later.
that night we went up to the rooftop bar in our hotel
we redeemed our free drinks and chilled. |
Also, the girls except WY applied the wash off mask WY brought. WY wouldn't let us put it on her :( The mask was really pretty tho.
really liked the gold beads so i had RX to take pictures of them for me lolol #NoShame |
<3 |
got the advertisement vibes or not huh |
credits to WY & Maria, oops i mean Jimmy (inside joke) for these beautiful shots haha.
The next morning i headed out early with these two to get souvenirs (food lol).
they are the brothers i always wanted but never had :') |
SEE I TOLD YOU :(
It was only two days ago when we came and now it got destroyed.
here we are! |
Ming Xiang Tai. We passed by this shop on day one but we decided to come back on our last day so we can bring back fresh pastries :) The shop smells really good. The pastries were not bad too but you can find similarly good pastries in KL too i guess.
they were reading something |
i just thought this was cute haha. |
I went on a little walk and found this wall with adorable cats. Then i realise there's a lot of cats in that alley!
they went hiding when i approach them lol |
pink <3 |
RX's really adorable shoes (im using adorable so much lol) + really adorable socks |
trying to do the walking shot |
then this fella came and wanted it too. |
uncle can you stand properly please? don't hunch your back la |
hmm |
HIIIIII :D |
then we passed by some chickens next to the market
i wonder if the chickens know they are going to die :( |
i just really liked the way my hair looked but it didn't last
that's why i needed to photograph it. |
We checked out and headed to My Voice Cafe for the famous noodle in giant bowl. They were actually rather mediocre only. Didn't really like the taste actually, probably not my cup of tea?
NI HEN CUTE LE JIMMY |
Her tongue was blue because of some sweet she ate (i asked and she told me, tmi? lol) |
i believe Shawn took this lol |
the others were in another table because we couldn't get a big table to fit the nine of us. |
there was quite a queue |
some even had to sit outside. |
We had some time to kill before our flight so we headed to Queensbay Mall which was walking distance away from My Voice Cafe. The mall is huge!
i bought a few luggages *jokes |
and i did a little shopping in F21 lol |
That concluded our trip in Penang. I had a really good time and i am really grateful for these people who made so much great great memories with me. The trip wouldn't have been possible if everyone didn't compromise and play their own part. I'm glad the entire trip went smoothly and more importantly, safely. I love you guys!
XOXO,
Sheunny
