2D1N Halong Bay, Vietnam

Whoa, this is probably the longest hiatus my blog has ever went on (yet). The last time i did my monthly post was in August & it was a belated post for May, that's so crazy. I have to admit i don't really feel the "umph" to blog as much as i used to because I have other social platforms, mainly IG stories, which is so so convenient & sufficient enough to help me keep track of everything that's going on in my life that i want a record of. Because of that, as well as my laziness, and how busy life has been, i hadn't been blogging la. Anyways, back to the reason i'm back. I'm back to blog about my Vietnam trip last December before i lose all my photos again lolol.

I got the chance to visit Vietnam a couple of months back, it was a family trip. Mama Lau & my uncle planned the whole trip. It was a pretty long trip, 8 days in total, but we covered so many places in the North side of Vietnam, like Ha Long Bay, Sapa and Hanoi. It was my first time in Vietnam & it was a really good eye opener.

The word "Ha Long" denotes descending dragon, and there's a lot of myths, stories and legend based on it. Ha Long Bay is a  UNESCO World Heritage Site and popular travel destination in Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam. You can choose to go on a day trip, or a 2 days 1 night cruise trip, we chose the latter.

// okay i'm half way drafting this post & some crazy coincidence happened. two friends of mine (who don't know each other lol) who were chatting with me asked me when am i gonna be blogging again. crazy right. I mean it's been such a long time since i've blogged & nobody really mentioned it until today, when i am actually blogging hahahaha.

It was a 3.5 hours drive from our hotel in Hanoi to our cruise in Ha Long Bay. The captain and his crews welcomed us & helped us to check in to our rooms. They were so nice. I think Vietnam is pretty good in terms of their hospitality. (Do i make sense? Low key insecure now cause it's been a while since i blogged & i don't write as fluently as i used to- or at least i think i used to write pretty fluently lol, like there were less pauses between sentences) (okay let me just remind myself that this is just for my own memory's sake la, i'm blogging so the future me can read & maybe reminisce)

So where was I.... i need to stop interrupting myself ._.

I'm not gonna lie, the rooms were kinda small, but it was clean & pretty la, plus we only had to stay there for one night so i didn't really mind. After checking in to our rooms we had lunch prepared by the cruise, the food was so-so la, i'm not that big of a fan of Vietnam food tbh. Sorry i don't have pictures because there were nothing special about them.

We went to Titop island next, i didn't bring my camera as it will be a lil hard to take care of my baby. We climbed a lot of stairs, it took us roughly 15 minutes? it was really really crowded, tourists from China mainly. & we reached the top which has a really spectacular view of the lime stones Ha Long Bay is famous for.

Stunning isnt? it's a bit hard to get a good shot with the view because it's ...bei guang, what do you call it in english? back lit? back light? you get what i mean right? also there's like tons of other tourists there, they would just push you away, or stand right next to you & take their own pic, i'm not even kidding. i don't think i need to mention where those tourists come from la hmmm.

Anyhow i still enjoyed the view, it's super spectacular, you have to see it for yourself. I just hope it will not be destroyed by pollution or anything like that. Fun fact, there's over 1000 unique lime stones at Ha Long Bay! :)

since it's an island, there's a beach also la, but it's soooooooooo crowded, just look at it lol

Next, we went kayaking, it was so fun. You can opt for a ride on their local bamboo boat were the locals will row the boat for you if you don't feel like kayaking.

my cousin & I hehe
that's the only decent picture i got haha, a candid by Mama Lau.

After all that we got back to our cruise & chilled till dinner time. The food was so-so only as usual la, but they did put in extra effort in the presentation, here's a pic

Mama Lau the coffee lover couldn't resist the urge to order the famous Vietnamese coffee

// meals were provided but beverages are charged separately la

Cuttlefish fishing
My sisters and I quit after half an hour lol

The next morning we had a simple buffet breakfast on the cruise, the fact that we were surrounded by beautiful lime stones and the weather was wonderful made breakfast extra lovely. I actually woke up extra early in hopes to catch the sunrise lol but it was cloudy and it drizzled a little so i didn't catch the sunrise :( they also provide tai chi classes in the morning but it was cancelled due to the rain lol

i love my eyelash extensions :')

After breakfast, we went to Sung Sot Cave. I was amazed by how beautiful the cave is, i've never seen anything like it. It totally exceeded my expectations.

they were so cute i needed to take a pic! i assume that's the mother and her son la.

just look at how his little short legs leap ....too cute!

manja little baby ah.
the ceiling over my head had such a special and intricate concavity, so so beautiful!

it was super bigggggg.

& it's not that hard to get a pic without the crowd too because it's so spacious

im (pleasantly) surprised at how impressed i am by this cave haha

there's this thing here that looks like a bat

finally got a pic with the view but it's bei guang, you know what i mean by bei guang now? hahahaa

After that we went back to our cruise, they taught us how to make spring rolls, we had lunch, then we got back on land. I really enjoyed my 2 days and 1 night Ha Long Bay cruise & i would recommend you guys to go for it too if you ever visit the north part of Vietnam :)

that's all for now, stay tuned for more!

Love,
Sheunny
